According to the Ministry of Nature of Ukraine in 2011, the Soiuy mullet catch has reduced two times, pike-perch – three times, and flounder – four times against the catch 10 years ago.
Main reason is irrational fishery management and poor protection of water live resources. Although the time is close when these resources seemed inexhaustible. In 1991, the number of industrial fish species in the Azov sea was 17. Now, they are only three: Azov anchovy, bullhead, and Soiuy mullet.
